Held in Metkovic, Croatia, the 2024 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships saw 22 Australian paddlers take to the water from September 19-22, just days after our Masters paddlers secured 15 podium finishes at their corresponding event.
Competing against the world’s best, the Aussie paddlers in attendance made our country proud on the world stage, with several finishing in the top 25 and even earning Australia quota spots for the World Games 2025.
Three-time Australian Open Champion Rebecca Mann is one such athlete, finishing fourth in the Open Women’s K1 and claiming an Oceania qualifying spot in the process.
In what was Australia’s best finish at a Marathon World Championships in many years, Mann put together a phenomenal race that saw her finish just shy of the podium.
Fellow three-time Australian Open Champion Josh Kippin also put forward a solid performance in the Open Men’s C1 to finish 11th and secure Australia’s second quota spot, with fellow C1 paddler Casey Haynes finishing not far behind in 21st.
Gergely Nagy finished a strong eighth in Open Men’s C1.
