2 boars spur temporary road closure in busy Hong Kong district

Two boars caused a temporary road closure in a busy Hong Kong district after they were spotted on Wednesday morning.

Police said an officer saw the animals at 10.10am around a bush while on patrol at the juncture of Tai Po Road and Nam Cheong Street in Sham Shui Po.

The two boars then walked up to Sheung Li Uk Garden, located along Tai Po Road. The animals had remained inside the park as of 11am.

“The police officers have closed the garden’s entrance. We are now waiting for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to arrive at the scene and handle the incident,” a police spokesman said.

Officers at the scene were seen using long shields to guard against the boars.

A section of northbound lane of Tai Po Road near Mei Ho House Youth Hostel was closed due to the incident.
